The “Fun Fitness For Family” project by the Boys and Girls Club of Philadelphia at their Solis-Cohen afterschool program challenged elementary school youth to change their habits. This project taught youth and their families that exercising can be fun and exciting.
As part of the PBL project, youth completed individual charts and family charts that outlined various food items and activities they would change in order to become more healthy. Youth then regularly reported if they were reaching their weekly goals.
At the end of the project youth reported having more energy and enjoying exercising more. One student lost 7 pounds while participating in this project.
