Soft skills, like communication, creativity, collaboration and critical-thinking, are as integral a part of the school day as multiplication tables and verb conjugation. In the coming weeks, Ken Kay, formerly of the Partnership for 21st Century Skills, will publish a seven-part guide for schools interested in incorporating these vital skills into the classroom.
In the meantime, city-funded OST programs in Philadelphia are already familiar with 21st Century Skills. Incorporating these soft skills is a hallmark of good project-based learning. As Mr. Kay publishes his guide to 21st Century Skills, we at the OST Project-Based Learning Blog will offer techniques and strategies for integrating communication, collaboration, creativity and critical-thinking into PBL activities.
