Using PBL to Integrate Arts Education

Out-of-School Time (OST) programs offer enrichment activities to students in disciplines, like art, that are often under-represented during the school day. However, the traditional afterschool schedule – snack, homework assistance, academic enrichment and physical activity – is crowded, and can present challenges to OST providers interested in integrating art enrichment. In the City of Philadelphia OST network, the solution to this problem is Project-Based Learning (PBL).
