PHMC is pleased to announce that the 2013 PBL Summer Cup will take place on Tuesday, August 6th, at Imhotep Charter School. Since 2011, the PBL Summer Cup has given students the opportunity to demonstrate the academic knowledge and workplace skills they have acquired afterschool, and to compete against their peers for recognition and prizes. This year’s PBL Summer Cup will feature Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM)-based projects, and applications are now available.
Part science fair and part talent show, students at the PBL Summer Cup present their projects to a panel of judges. Students present poster boards, models and other products created during the project, and participate in a question and answer session on which they are evaluated based on the content and professionalism of their presentation. Some projects also include a performance component, and students share songs, dances or skits that further “answer” the Driving Question.
An overall winner is named the PBL Summer Cup Champion, along with two runners up. Additionally, students who demonstrate especially strong critical thinking or communication skills receive awards. This year’s PBL Summer Cup winner will receive a cash prize. We hope to see you all there!
